In their joint work, La Question du Messis (pp. 22-24 [PDF pp. 42-44]), the two Fathers Lémann enumerate with a greater wealth of detail the twenty-five false Messiahs, and conclude with the words: “Not merely once, not merely ten times, but twenty five times, our ancestors were led astray by this mirage. Because they failed to recognise the true Messiah, they were drawn to seek Him where He was not.”
