Description
Garrigou-Lagrange on St Dominic and All Holy Founders (De Gratia, p. 20 [DjVu/PDF p. 14])
opera ipsius Dei sunt perfecta, prout omne agens agit sibi simile, et agens perfectissimum perfectum opus efficit; vg. dum Deus vult instituere novum ordinem religiosum sanctum fundatorem in Ecclesiam mittit, in quo fundatore omnes perfectiones hujusce novu ordinis saltem virtualiter continentur.
The works of God are perfect, as every agent works an effect similar to itself [scholastic principle #95], and the most perfect agent produces a perfect work; e.g., when God wants to institute a new religious order, He sends into the Church a holy founder, in which founder all the perfections of this new order are at least virtually contained.
