Review
"...a really definitive work on the subject we have all talked about without really pinning it down." -- Mary Martinez, Vatican Correspondent and author of From Rome Urgently.
"Brilliantly written and fully documented. It clearly shows when obedience becomes a sin, when authority, even the Pope's, becomes void." -- Martin Lings in Ancient Beliefs and Modern Superstitions
"Everyone interested in knowing in depth the tragic consequences...wrought upon Western society should read this crucial book." -- Mateus Soares de Azevedo, author of The Intelligence of Faith (São Paulo, 2006) and editor of Ye shall know the Truth: Christianity and the Perennial Philosophy
"Well written ... this book should serve as a beacon to guide those lost in the Post-Counciliar confusion. -- Michael King, in Studies in Comparative Religion
From the Publisher
The year 2005 marks the fortieth since the close of the Council. We are well into the second generation of Catholics who have not known traditional Catholicism and live in woeful ignorance of it—if indeed they still "practice" the Faith at all. It is reckoned that about 50% have fallen away. Tradition is indeed the keynote. Doctrine and Discipline are two aspects of the Catholic religion. Doctrine regards the teachings of the Church—the Faith itself—and Discipline its laws and customs. With Discipline is bound up sacred tradition, which in the words of the Catechism of the Council of Trent "is the interpreter and guardian of Catholic truth." Traditions are not "changed," they are either kept or discarded—destroyed. Destroy Christian (Catholic) Tradition—immemorial, if not Apostolic ceremonies, laws, and practices of the Church—and you undermine the Church itself.
