St. Philomena the Wonder-Worker

Description

The 20th century Antipope John XXIII "un-sainted" her by removing her from the universal calendar.

ref:17.36 is a good argument against how St. Philomena's story is not "all too good to be true":

This great light of the Church, distinguished as much for his consummate prudence as for his angelic intelligence, read daily and with the greatest avidity the Lives of the Fathers of the Desert by Cassian. So did St. Dominic [Bl. Jordan, Libellus §13 (ref:1.45):

He loved to read the book called the Conferences [Collationes] of the Fathers , which deals with vices and with all matters of spiritual perfection. The paths of salvation outlined therein he carefully studied and tried to imitate with all the strength of his soul. Along with the help of grace, this book refined the purity of his conscience, intensified the light of his contemplation, and raised him to a high level of perfection.

] and very many other great Saints before him. […] No one will dare to suggest that the Angelic Doctor, the Prince of Theologians, the Light of the Church, the wisest of the Saints, was guilty of indiscretion or accepted lightly mere foolish legends.

Every conference of Spiritual Conferences ** by Fr. Lawrence Novak, SSPX, begins with a St. Philomena story, highlighting the power of her virginity. Canonized by Pope Gregory XVI solely on the merits of her miracles, in 1837, despit no archeological evidence!

Though nothing historical is known of her, she was declared a Saint in 1837, only 35 years after discovery of her relics. Here is the whole incredible story, plus many accounts of her tremendous favors and miracles. Another St. Jude to call on in our desperate needs. Impr. 192 pgs,
