Savonarola wrote The Triumph of the Cross Over the Wise of the Age [Triumphum crucis contra sæculi sapientes] (1497). He first makes use of intrinsic motives—namely, showing the moral effects and practical value of Christianity—then afterwards argues from extrinsic signs.
