Description
the authoritative biography of St. Thomas Aquinas before Torrell's
PDF p. 387:
27. Super Cantica Canticorum
See above, pp. 326-27. All the early catalogues of Thomas’s writings list a Super Cantica , and William of Tocco claims that Thomas dictated “a brief commentary on the Canticle of Canticles” on his deathbed at Fossanova. To date no commentary, long or “brief,” has been found. The two commentaries printed in the Vulgate editions (Parma v. 14, 354-86, 387-426; Vives v. 18, 557-607, 608- 67) are spurious: the first commentary belongs to Hymo of Auxerre, the second to Giles of Rome.
