Cdl. Mercier's short review

"Appendix: Deus est causa efficiens pulchritudinis Beatæ Mariæ Virginis" PDF pp. 158-60

citeed by Pohle vol. 1 (God's attributes) & vol. 8 (supernatural beauty, an effect of sanctifying grace)

p. 59 (PDF p. 68): St. Augustine, In Epistolam Ioannis ad Parthos tractatus decem - 9, relating charity and beauty:

Quomodo erimus pulchri? Amando eum qui semper est pulcher. Quantum in te crescit amor, tantum crescit pulchritudo; quia ipsa caritas est animae pulchritudo.

How shall we be beautiful? By loving Him who is always beautiful. Insofar as love grows in you, so does beauty, because charity itself is the beauty of the soul.

St. Gregory of Nyssa and St. Ambrose relate beauty and virginity:

De Virgin. cap. 1: "The holy look of virginity is precious indeed in the judgment of all who make purity the test of beauty"

De Virgin. i, 7: "Can anyone esteem any beauty greater than a virgin's, since she is beloved of her King, approved by her Judge, dedicated to her Lord, consecrated to her God?"
