Written before Dom Marmion's death in 1923, these conferences are the fruit of his reading St. Bernard of Clairvaux's commentary on the Song of Songs during a doctor-ordered rest in the nature of Luxembourg in 1918. Though geared toward nuns, these conferences, as the editor said (ref:1.20,1.71), "also reveal to those still in the world the high ideal they inwardly aspire after" and "As a matter of fact, however, in its essential points this doctrine [of St. Bernard] applies to every soul vowed to Christ."
