I really appreciate the tips shared here on saving web pages for Calibre! I actually started using Calibre to organize my e-books, and knowing how to import saves will make things much easier. Thanks for the insights!

Es mi Rosa bella
del cielo primor, y es de la hermosura
toda admiración;
¡el alba la admire, celébrela el sol!
She is my beautiful Rosa,
a delight from heaven, and her beauty
is the object of all admiration;
May the dawn admire her, may the sun celebrate her!

Es en todo tan hermosa
que si mira la atención,
la hallará, cuando la mire,
divino objeto de un dios.
¡El alba la admire, celébrela el sol!

She is so beautiful in every way
that if you look closely,
you will find her, when you gaze upon her,
a divine object of a god.
May the dawn admire her, may the sun celebrate her!

Coplas:

En el campo de Los Reyes
donde Rosa se plantó
a toda flor fragante
en su natal usurpó.
¡El alba la admire, celébrela el sol!

Verses:

In the fields of Los Reyes,
where Rosa took root,
she surpassed every fragrant flower
in her native land.
May the dawn admire her, may the sun celebrate her!

En la gracia de sus ojos,
toales virtudes mostró
que es para todo veneno,
la triaca superior [sic].
¡El alba la admire, celébrela el sol!

In the grace of her eyes,
she displayed such virtues
that she is, for every poison,
the supreme antidote [sic].
May the dawn admire her, may the sun celebrate her!

Stumbled on Mind of the Church, part of the same open-source translation movement. Under their Fellows page they list some commendations of which Isidore is included.

A quiet library of Catholic books and translations — scholastic commentaries, manuals, and rarities gathered in one place.

General Discussion / WhisperX & diarization

@Strider3000, today I discovered WhisperX, based on faster-whisper. It does diarization!

Also, I'm using the Systran--faster-whisper-large-v3 model.

Sounds similar to @Strider3000's BookTranslation process.

ScholaThomistica, a digital library of Scholastic theology — built to be the central hub of Scholasticism in the digital age.

A bit on Julio Alonzo's process on his Substack. The comments also mention the Church Writings site for Biblical commentary and patristics.

Philosophy / Locke's mechanistic checks-and...
Last post by Geremia - August 14, 2026, 11:20:36 PM
Quote from: Geremia on October 17, 2016, 04:00:53 PMMadison et al. were clearly deists/materialists, influenced by Newton in their idea of "justice" as a "balancing of (vector) forces" between opposing "factions;" the more opposing "factions," the more balanced ("just") the country will be. They think citizens are like molecules in an ideal gas! Improving the system by statistical analysis, not the perfection of the citizens, is their solution.
Dr. John Rao's foreword to Wemhoff, John Courtney Murray attributes this mechanistic conception of politics to Locke:
QuoteLocke's modus operandi allows so many denominations to function and command popular attention that they end by "checking and balancing" one another out of any practical social significance. Fight all they want, none of them can ever win control of the political order, which is left to be dominated by the godly "pragmatists".

Related to this is John Adams's 2 October 1780 letter to Jonathan Jackson where he warns against a two-party system (my emphasis):
QuoteThere is nothing I dread So much, as a Division of the Republick into two great Parties, each arranged under its Leader, and concerting Measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble Apprehension is to be dreaded as the greatest political Evil, under our Constitution.
