Here's what St. Thomas Aquinas says about that verse:
Quote from: St. Thomas AquinasBut was not the first grace sufficient? I answer that it was not, because the law gives only a knowledge of sin, but does not take it away. "The law brought nothing to perfection" (Heb 7:19). Hence it was necessary that another grace come that would take away sin and reconcile one with God.

205 And so he says, because, while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ. Here the Evangelist ranks Christ above Moses the lawgiver, whom the Baptist ranked above himself. Now Moses was regarded as the greatest of the prophets: "There did not arise again in Israel a prophet like Moses" (Dt 34:10). But he ranks Christ above Moses in excellence Mid in dignity of' works, because the law was given through Moses; and between these two, the One excels the other as the reality excels the symbol and the truth the shadow: "The law had a shadow of the good things to come" (Heb 10:1). Further, Christ excels him in the way he works, because the law was given by Moses as by one proclaiming it, but not originating it; for "The Lord alone is our lawgiver" (Is 33:22). But grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ, as through the Lord and Author of truth and grace, as was explained above.

QuoteA friend sent me this link. It looks interesting, though I've only watched a couple of minutes of it.
I would be interested in hearing the opinions of others on this.
Amazing video! The CMRI does not use the pre-55 Missal, to my knowledge, but whatever liturgical rubrics and calendars were in force in 1958.

Saints vs Antipopes reveals crucial truths for Catholics in the face of the Francis/Leo reigns of t/error:

The actions of saints like St. Bernard and St. Norbert who publicly denounced, plotted to overthrow—and even dispatched armies against—a canonically elected "pope," who ruled from Rome for almost eight years...unprecedented "sedition" against a sitting "pontiff."

The teaching of saints like Robert Bellarmine and other reputed theologians on how Christ's prayer protects the Church and Popes from ever teaching heresy: "the Pope not only should not, but cannot preach heresy, but rather should always preach the truth. He will certainly do that, since the Lord commanded him to confirm his brethren, and for that reason added: 'I have prayed for thee, that thy faith shall not fail,' (Lk 22:32)"

The shocking secrets that Mary, Queen of All Saints, revealed to saints and holy people at LaSalette, Fatima, and Akita: "The Church will be eclipsed/one will not know which is the true pope." "An apostasy will begin at the top of the Church." "There will be a man who is in the Vatican, dressed in white, looking something like a pope but talking like the devil. He is supposedly the head of Christianity, but is, in fact, spewing the doctrine of an antipope."
I bought this book. It is a must read for all Catholics, Dr. Mazza will go down as one of the few Catholics clearly telling the truth and defending the faith.

I added a PDF of the sample pages scraped from the Amazon.com preview.

Bell, Slaves of Satan (2023) introduction fn. 8:
Quoteanother recent work by Father Chad Ripperger titled Dominion: The Nature of Diabolical Warfare. I would note that this book was released after I had finished the manuscript for the current book and the work by Father Ripperger actually contains the most information about Perfect Possession and Diabolical Subjugation than any other work up to this point. Ripperger devotes an entire 13 pages to the topic of Diabolical Subjugation, Perfect Possession and Pacts with the Devil which is substantially more than any other author writing in the same genre.

The act of sodomy is considered a severe transgression, and contemporary pride culture is viewed as a mechanism that leads more individuals into moral error.

That's a useful feature. I'll have to use rg regularly.
I'm liking how fast it is.
Here's the repo: https://github.com/BurntSushi/ripgrep
I see it's written in Rust. 👍 Even Linus Torvalds approves of Rust being used more now for the Linux kernel.
