[ 45 → 52] And yes, it was formally approved by Jorge Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis. [ 53 → 57] Bam! There goes yet another pope being all Catholic and all that. [ 57 → 58] Yeah. [ 58 → 61] The document is not a response to dubia. [ 61 → 68] It is rather a declaration on the pastoral meaning of blessings, as the official title says. [ 69 → 73] In a total of about 10 pages and 45 paragraphs, [ 73 → 81] Fernandez explains how it is not contrary to divine law to bless a sodomitic couple. [ 81 → 87] As can be expected, the document tries to square the circle by means of insane hair splitting, [ 87 → 91] and in a preliminary note, Fernandez emphasizes that, [ 92 → 101] of course, this permission to bless a baro-sexual couples does not constitute in any way an approval of their relationship, [ 102 → 108] nor does it change anything about the Church's perennial doctrine on marriage. [ 109 → 110] Obviously, right? [ 111 → 114] He ends his preliminary note by saying, [ 114 → 114] quote, [ 114 → 117] This declaration is also intended, [ 117 → 126] as a tribute to the faithful people of God who worship the Lord with so many gestures of deep trust in His mercy, [ 126 → 132] and who, with this confidence, constantly come to seek a blessing from Mother Church. [ 177 → 184] The title of the document, Fiducia Suplicans, translated as supplicating trust in the document, [ 185 → 190] is ambiguous and can, it doesn't have to, but it can, [ 191 → 198] have a meaning that is suggestive of the activity that characterizes a natural lust. [ 199 → 206] Now, if you think that's coincidence, I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Kansas. [ 207 → 213] But be that as it may, the declaration is a total of 45 paragraphs, [ 213 → 221] and it takes Fernandez 30 paragraphs to prepare the reader for what's coming in paragraph 31, [ 221 → 224] which reads as follows, quote, [ 224 → 233] Within the horizon outlined here appears the possibility of blessings for couples in irregular situations, [ 233 → 236] and for couples of the same sex. [ 237 → 242] The form of which should not be fixed ritually by ecclesial authorities [ 242 → 247] to avoid producing confusion with the blessing proper to the sacrament of marriage. [ 247 → 254] In such cases, a blessing may be imparted that not only has an ascending value, [ 254 → 260] but also involves the invocation of a blessing that descends from God upon those who, [ 261 → 265] recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his help, [ 265 → 266] do not claim a legitimate... [ 313 → 313] Unquote. [ 314 → 320] Okay, so that's the core of the document, and we can summarize as follows. [ 320 → 325] A. Blessings for couples in illicit sexual unions are now possible. [ 326 → 330] B. Such blessings ought not to follow some fixed ritual. [ 331 → 333] We wouldn't want confusion, after all. [ 334 → 341] And C. Such blessings descend from God and are received by people who want God to enrich, [ 341 → 348] heal, and elevate those things in their lives and relationships that are true, good, and valid. [ 348 → 356] And D. Such blessings ask God to send his grace to make their relationship conform more to the gospel. [ 356 → 361] Now, frankly, this is just straight-up blasphemy. [ 362 → 368] There is nothing in a sodomitic relationship that conforms in any way to the gospel to begin with. [ 369 → 376] The only thing for that relationship to do is to end, and it needs to end immediately. [ 377 → 385] Granted, anyone, saint or sinner, can receive a blessing, but we're talking about individuals. [ 385 → 390] In fact, when you go to confession, the first thing you say is, [ 390 → 393] Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. [ 393 → 399] The sinner, perhaps more than anyone else, needs God's blessing so he can return to him. [ 400 → 407] Let's recall that God sent his Son to die for us at a time when all of us were still his enemies. [ 408 → 411] See Romans 5, accepting, of course, the Blessed Mother. [ 475 → 478] A liturgical act, et cetera, et cetera. [ 478 → 482] Folks, none of these things will ultimately matter, [ 482 → 485] because in practice, they will not be followed. [ 486 → 488] And obviously, Francis knows that. [ 489 → 495] But, of course, this provides some nice fodder to the popesplainers to use in their videos and podcasts, [ 496 → 499] so they can yell at you for not having read the document, [ 499 → 505] and denounce all those awful abuses that are going to be committed by the evil liberals, [ 505 → 508] who are not following the Holy Father. [ 509 → 510] You know what they say, [ 511 → 513] fool me once, shame on you. [ 513 → 515] Fool me twice, shame on me. [ 516 → 520] At this point, they're simply insulting our intelligence. [ 521 → 526] Earlier today, Michael Lofton of Reason and Theology released a video, [ 526 → 530] I haven't watched it, but he released a video entitled, [ 530 → 532] What is being blessed? [ 532 → 534] The couple itself? [ 534 → 537] Or the persons of the couple? [ 538 → 541] Yeah, so next time you invite a couple over for dinner, [ 541 → 545] don't invite the couple, but the persons of the couple. [ 546 → 549] Hey, honey, did we invite Erica and Tom? [ 654 → 656] And here Fernandes continues, [ 656 → 661] In this case, the subject of the blessing is the elderly person [ 661 → 664] for whom and with whom thanks is being given to God [ 664 → 668] for the good he has done and for the benefits received. [ 668 → 672] No one can be prevented from this act of giving thanks. [ 673 → 677] And each person, even if he or she lives in situations [ 677 → 680] that are not ordered to the Creator's plan, [ 680 → 682] possesses positive elements, [ 682 → 685] for which we can praise the Lord. [ 686 → 686] Unquote. [ 688 → 690] Now, that was a lot of words, [ 690 → 692] but let me just summarize for you [ 692 → 695] what trick Fernandes is using here [ 695 → 697] to get his foot in the door. [ 697 → 701] He's saying that, hey, we can bless groups of people, [ 702 → 705] like the elderly, the sick, group of pilgrims, right? [ 705 → 709] So why not also a group of homos, right? [ 783 → 787] How can our church get too excited [ 787 → 788] like they used to be? [ 788 → 790] How can the church make a blessing [ 790 → 792] for the people that are not fallen to us? [ 792 → 793] How can the church make a blessing [ 793 → 795] for the people who are at stake? [ 795 → 796] How can a specific church [ 796 → 797] give a blessing to the people [ 797 → 798] who are in trouble? [ 798 → 799] How can we make a blessing [ 799 → 801] for the members of the Satanic Temple [ 801 → 802] or those members of the Holy Trinity? [ 802 → 813] I'm sorry, but logic is merciless. It does not care what you think or how you feel, and in the end, it always wins. [ 814 → 820] Ladies and gentlemen, don't let yourselves be fooled by people who defend Francis for a living. [ 820 → 835] It's pretty obvious what's going on here. The Vatican, under Bergoglio's leadership, has been taking baby steps to making unnatural vice acceptable in the minds of Catholics, or supposed Catholics. [ 835 → 845] In order for that plan to be successful, they cannot just come out and say, hey guys, from now on, sodomy is going to be okay, right? No problem. [ 845 → 850] Obviously, they can only do it step by tiny little step. [ 850 → 852] Like boiling a frog in water. [ 853 → 872] With each document or each decision, the crack in the door is opened just a little bit more, and at each step, his defenders come up with explanations as to why this particular step, this particular crack, really is totally permissible and orthodox. [ 873 → 874] Don't fall for it. [ 874 → 880] And honestly, so many people did that to defend Francis in the very beginning. [ 880 → 883] In 2013 and 2014. [ 884 → 890] But at this point, a lot of them have given it up because it just doesn't fly. [ 890 → 892] It's simply not reasonable. [ 892 → 894] No, it's not always the media. [ 895 → 896] It's not always the translation. [ 897 → 899] It's not Francis' Latin American background. [ 899 → 906] The problem is Francis, and the problem is Vatican II theology. [1030 → 1037] You can read about it in Genesis, chapter 19, with a little bonus in verse 7 of the Epistle of St. Jude. [1038 → 1041] Let's just say it wasn't a blessing. [1169 → 1174] They might still change it eventually, like Francis did with the death penalty, [1175 → 1179] but it won't be necessary as long as everybody believes and acts [1179 → 1182] in accordance with the pastoral practice. [1183 → 1188] So, don't fall for any of this, but the doctrine hasn't changed business. [1188 → 1190] It doesn't matter. [1191 → 1198] By the way, did you know that when Pope Pius XII reduced the mandatory Eucharistic fast [1198 → 1203] to three hours for all, he also said that the ancient fast from midnight [1203 → 1206] should nevertheless still be kept?
