Description
Cited in a few places of Ampère, Assis, & Chaib 2015 (original source) regarding how Ampère's law is the only one acting along the straight lines collecting the elements that gives the same force between current elements as the integrated force gives between current loops of arbitrary shape.
Duhem also has a § of Bertrand's derivation (cf. p. 166) of Ampère's law in Duhem's Leçons vol. 3 pp. 309-332 (DjVu pp. 322-345). Duhem in ibid. also considers Bertrand's "belles recherches sur la loi d’Ampère ", e.g.
